Space Age portion of a new FAQ?
Sep 20 2008, 2:08 PM EDT
Well, nobody's done this anywhere on the net yet, so I guess I will start. Most if this are things that I have seen or noticed while playing the game. So here we go. Oh yeah, and these are in no particular order. If you feel that I am incorrect in any of my data, please let me know.Q: Why does my planet produce 2 types of spice when only one is shown? A: If you have established a trade route with another empire, the planet that you are trading with supplies whatever type of spice their planet mines to whichever planet has the trade route. Q: Why are some planets easily conquerable while others are extremely difficult? A: Happiness of the target colony has to be reduced to a low level before it gets easier to take the colony. Destroy factories, houses, and entertainment facilities to reduce the target colony's happiness before trying to attack the city hall. 21 out of 24 found this valuable. Do you?

Q: I see all the colors of the spice, which is the best to mine?A: There is no real answer to this. Spice is worth different amounts to different _COLONIES_. Note, each colony even in the same empire will have different purchase prices on each different type of spice. I have currently determined that the order of value is the following: Lowest to highest: - Red - Yellow - Blue - Green - Pink - Purple Pay close attention to the actual color. Yellow spice looks like it's green until you find the green. :) Prices change also between games (ie different race on different starting planet). Since the range varies drastically it's hard to tell what a "good price" is. The best prices that I have seen are: Red 10,000 - 16,000 Yellow 12,000 - 18,000 Blue 9,000 - 27,000 Green 12,000 - 28,000 Pink 15,000 - 50,000 Purple 18,000 - 75,000 As you can see, the purple spice is the best, but it's also pretty rare. Also, the ranges are shown as 'best lowest - best highest'. Since the numbers are approximated what you will actually see is something like Blue 18,374 or Purple 48,956. 7 out of 8 found this valuable. Do you? |

Important Hint:You can't save the game if you are in a planet - or maybe not even in a solar system. You must fly up to galaxy view before saving or quitting. If you don't you will lose all you've done in this session. I learned the hard way. It's easy to quit without realizing that the game's not saved. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
