Installation of Spore stops after entering serial number.

I initially installed Spore, but on running the program I got a blank screen.
I then uninstalled. On re-installin, the installation of Spore stops after entering serial number (no messages or anything - the install program box just disappears and nothing is listed on task manager).
I have a fully compatible Vista system and updated vista.
Any help would be much appreciated !? 15  out of 15 found this valuable. Do you?
