wont initialize

My disk drive will read other games just fine and start the auto boot, however Spore does nothing and will not boot the install menu after being inserted in the drive. i'm running on windows xp and the game is an out of the box copy.as far as i know all my requirement are met.

I am having the same problem. It opened the installation wizard and started installing, at which point I left the computer when I came back it prompted me to install EDM and DirectX so I assumed that it had finished installing but it isnt installed. Now when I insert the disk nothing happens, even when I prompt it to run/install.
